National Institute for Minamata Disease official SNS (facebook) administration policy

1）Purpose

This policy provides requirements relating to the administration by the National Institute for Minamata Disease (hereinafter referred to as "NIMD") of its facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/nimd.env.go.jp/) (hereinafter referred to as the "NIMD official SNS account").

2）Basic policy

The purpose of the NIMD official SNS account is to have our users deepen their understanding of NIMD and mercury by communicating a series of information, including NIMD's research, operations and events, as well as information on mercury, and to enhance the convenience for our users. As the NIMD official SNS account is exclusively dedicated to delivering information, no replies or other responses will therefore be provided there as a general rule; we welcome your comments and inquiries sent via e-mail (at ).

3）Administration approach

The NIMD official SNS account is administered by NIMD (the section responsible for administration is the International Information Section, Department of International Affairs and Research) as follows:

1. （１）Information to be communicated
   The following types of information are communicated via the NIMD official SNS account:
   • Topics concerning research and operations undertaken by NIMD;
   • Information concerning the NIMD official SNS account; and
   • Other pieces of information related to NIMD and mercury that are highly demanded by the people of Japan or are necessary to be disseminated widely.
2. （２）Action to be taken in the event of emergency, etc.
   In the event that it is imperative to take action different from those habitually taken, as in the example of the Kumamoto earthquake that occurred in April 2016, we will, from the perspective of responding to the needs of the Japanese people and contributing to addressing it, have information shared and take other action as required in connection with information issued by national governmental organizations, local governments, foreign governmental organizations, etc. as well.

4）Disclaimer

• While we take every possible step to ensure the accuracy of information that NIMD itself posts on the NIMD official SNS account, NIMD will assume no liability whatsoever with respect to any and all such acts as general users may engage in by using information found on the NIMD official SNS account.
• NIMD will assume no liability whatsoever in connection with any "sharing" done or "comments," etc. made by general users in response to information posted on the NIMD official SNS account.
• NIMD will assume no liability whatsoever even in the event that any trouble or dispute arises between general users, or between a general user and a third party, in connection with the NIMD official SNS account.
• While copyrights, etc. on a comment or other content posted are vested in the general user who does the posting, the said general user who does the posting shall, as a result of the posting of the content, be deemed to have granted a worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license to NIMD to use the posted content, and to have agreed not to enforce the copyrights, etc. against NIMD.

• Content that infringes upon any intellectual property rights, such as copyrights, trademark rights and image rights of the Ministry of the Environment, or of a third party;
• Content of which purpose is an advertising, publicity, solicitation or sales activity, or is to otherwise make profits;
• Content that constitutes or encourages discrimination based on race, thought, belief, etc.;
• Content that goes against public order or good morals;
• Content that is false, is at odds with the facts, or is a mere rumor or foments the spread of a rumor;
• Content that violates privacy, such as by identifying, disclosing or divulging personal information without approval from the person that the information concerns;
• Content posted by someone masquerading as another user, third party, etc.;
• A malicious program, etc.;
• Content that shows a URL that promotes traffic to a malicious website;
• Inappropriate content that has obscene language, etc.;
• Content that partially or entirely alters information issued by NIMD;
• Content that has no relevance to information issued by NIMD; or
• Information that NIMD otherwise deems inappropriate, or a link, etc. that contains such information.

6）Copyrights

With the exception of use for personal purposes, or of acts permitted under the Copyright Act, such as citations, no content of the NIMD official SNS account may be reprinted, or otherwise reproduced, without permission from NIMD. When you give a citation, etc., please make absolutely sure to specify the source in an appropriate fashion.

7）Dissemination, change, etc. of administration policy

The text of the policy is published on the NIMD website. The policy may be changed as required without giving notice in advance.
