Since March 2011, we have continuous observations of atmospheric mercury levels underway on the rooftop of the Minamata Disease Archives. By using an unmanned continuous atmospheric mercury monitor (AM-4, a product of Nippon Instruments Corporation), data on atmospheric mercury concentration is obtained on a cycle of every 15 minutes. The data obtained is organized and put together in hourly average figures. Please take a look below for the observation results from the past.
In addition to such observations, we also regularly collect atmospheric air and precipitation and measure each chemical form of mercury contained in them to study the process of chemical reactions of mercury in the atmosphere, as well as its transportation process and release sources, etc.
