 水銀化合物の曝露に伴う健康影響には個人差が見られます。メチル水銀曝露に対するハイリスクグループとして、高濃度の水銀に曝露したグループ、及び水銀に対する高感受性のグループが挙げられます。特に、胎児、乳幼児は、脳神経系が発達段階にあるため、メチル水銀に対する感受性が高いことが知られています。また、疾患に伴う代謝異常は水銀化合物の曝露に対する感受性に影響を及ぼす可能性があるため、これらのグループにおいてはメチル水銀への曝露を正確に把握し、健康影響に関する適切なリスク評価を行う必要があると考えられます。
 本研究室では、メチル水銀曝露に対するハイリスクグループにおける曝露評価研究、および感受性要因の解明を目指した実験研究を行っています。
